Fresh Express

 

 

Fresh Express is our twice monthly food distribution program for food insecure families in our community.  Most food is provided by the Central PA Food Bank and is delivered the same day it is distributed.  The distributions usually include staples like milk, cheese, and eggs, along with fresh assorted produce.  At their first visit, each family fills out a self-declaration of need form certifying their income is within 185% of federal poverty level for their household size.  Our distributions take place each month on the second Thursday from 3-5PM and the fourth Tuesday from 5-7PM for families to shop for their groceries.  We open our doors 1.5 hours early at each distribution and welcome families with light fare and fellowship.  Participants should park and enter through the Brushy Ridge Rd entrance of Faith Church.

              

Backpack Program

 

Our backpack program provides children in the Montoursville School District free lunch program with weekend supplemental food.  Every Friday the students receive a bag in their backpack containing 2 breakfasts, 2 entrees, 2 snacks, either a fruit or vegetable, and once a month a jar of peanut butter.  We are currently serving 105 students, or supplying 420 bags of food each month, during the school year.  All food is donated by members of our 12 partnering churches or purchased with donated funds.
